Recap

A late header from Elliot was the difference between the two giants of local football. Westside scored within 5 minutes when Alex John swept home left footed after the ball had made it’s way across from the right – a neat finish from the youngster who has scored 3 against the Rudhachs this season.  Point equalised after 35 minutes when Elliot headed in a corner from a seemingly impossible angle. Things then got better for the Rudhachs when  Rob Jones got the ball 40 yards out and ran at the defense. He faked to shoot, the whole Westside defence bought it and he strollled through before clipping the ball over the advancing Gillies, what a cracker! There was still time for Point to go further ahead when the ball deflected of someone (maybe Jones again) at a corner and found its way into the net. The scoring wasnt finished though as the Reds lost possession and a good through ball was finished off nicely by Innes Iain Morrison. What a first half! **In fact I got so excited I think Jones’goals may have been in the wrong order above. **

In the second half Westside were slightly on top, forcing Jonny into a great save and Elliot to clear off the line,  before Macca (sporting a Terry  Butcher bandage after a clash of heads) unfortunately scored an own goal to make it all square, 3 each.

Good work from Andrew Mo with 10 mins left led to a corner and there was Elliot again to head past Gillies from another cracking delivery by Wally. The Reds held on fairly comforrably thereafter. Well done lads!

An excellent game given the blustery conditions. The Reds next game is against Aths on Monday 14th May in the Jock Stein Cup
